Senses 1. What are the 5 senses of the body? Smell, hear, touch, taste, sight.
2. What are the 5 sense organs? Nose, ears, hands, mouth, eyes
3. Pick 2 senses and explain how the sense organ detects that particular sense.
Taste: taste buds can pick up four basic tastes: sweet, salty, bitter, sour. At the bottom of each taste bud there is a nerve that sends messages to the brain.
Touch: Nerve endings in the skin and other parts of the body that sends messages to the brain.
4. It must be explained in your own words and include at least 3 relevant diagrams

Body Systems 1. Choose 3 of the following systems of the body
2. List the names of the different parts of the body involved in the system
Digestive: Small intestine, oesophagus, stomach
Respiratory: Lungs, epiglotis, diaphragm
Skeletal: Vertebrae, ligament, bone marrow, cranium, tendon, cartilage
3. Explain in detail how each system works. include any diagrams, video clips or links to helpful websites
Digestive: Organs that make up the digestive system, are the mouth, esophagus, stomach, small intestine, large intestine, rectum, and anus. Inside these hollow organs is a lining called the mucosa. In the mouth, stomach, and small intestine, the mucosa contains tiny glands that produce juices to help digest food (enzymes). The digestive tract also contains a layer of smooth muscle that helps break down food and move it along the tract.

this is the digestive system

Respiratory: The main function of the respiratory system is to supply oxygen to the blood, to insure it carries throughtout the body, The respiratory system does this through breathing. When we breathe, we inhale oxygen and exhale carbon dioxide. This exchange of gases is the respiratory system meaning of getting oxygen to the blood.Respiration is achieved through the mouth, nose, trachea, lungs, and diaphragm. The respiratory system does this through breathing.
The Respiratory System

Skeletal: The skeletal system is inportant for our body, without it we wouldn't be able to move. Humans are vertebrates, which means we have a back bone. The skeletal system offers protection, support, blood cell formation, stores minerals and energy. The 206 bones of the skeletal systems are connected by tendoms and cushioned by cartilage.`
4. Discuss what effects diet, smoking, or alcohol may have on the system
Cigarettes have alot of chemicals that can harm your body such as:
Familiar Chemicals in Cigarettes

This is what everyday smokeres are breathing in and out of the body. Some reasons why smoking is bad for you:
#1 it is bad for your lungs because it's filling your lungs with toxic air which then absorbs into your blood stream.
#2 smoking can cause servical cancer
#3 The effects of smoking on your heart are devastating. Nicotine raises blood pressure and makes the blood clot more easily which can cause heart attacks.
